Since 7 March 1937, the history of Malaga has been told in the pages of SUR. The leading newspaper in the region was acquired by employees in 1984, following the privatisation of the media assets of the State. Six years later, in 1990, it joined the Group. Currently, the newspaper has readership of 130.000 people (according to EGM data*) and circulation of 18.694 copies (according to the OJD**). To these numbers it is necessary to add them also 1.650.000 unique users on his website (according to information of ComScore MMX December, 2014).

Malaga is the location for the main edition of the newspaper, which publishes various editions: Campo de Gibraltar, Melilla, and Marbella-Estepona. The regional newspaper has various supplements and is also published in English, Sur in English; German, Sur Deutsche; and Russian, Sur Ha Pycckom.

The title’s multimedia positioning is based on a local portal, and includes two specialist applications for Easter in Andalusia, ‘Pasión del Sur’ and ‘Sur en Feria’ which provides information about the feria de Andalucía.
