Vocento continues to be the fastest growing media company on the Internet

Madrid, 13 July 2009.- Vocento was the fastest growing media company on the Internet in the last year, with a 57% increase in its audience, more than double the sector average of 27%, and well above its main competitors, Prisacom and Unedisa, which grew by 36% and 39%, respectively, according to the Nielsen Netview ranking of audiences.

The growth rate recorded by Vocento on the Internet, with 9.3 million unique users in the month of June, is based on the strong performance of its three business areas: news and information portals, thematic portals, and classified advertising (automotive, employment and real estate), on the continuous commitment of the Company to innovation, and on the leadership of its brands in their respective areas of influence.

ABC.es is the fastest growing online newspaper, with an increase in readership of 128% from June last year, thanks to the modernisation of the web site, the continuous generation of new tools for users, and the incorporation of new sections, new content, and new contributors.

For its part, Que.es is among the top 10 most visited information sites on the Internet, after quintupling its audience over the course of the last year, thanks, among other innovations, to the creation of the first news based social network in Spain.

The twelve local portals of Vocento, which have just completed an ambitious process of redesign, with a significant improvement in the presentation of content, and a technological roll-out that has been focused on audiovisual information, user participation, and the consolidation of communities, continue to be the leaders in the areas where they operate.

Highlights of the last year include the audience growth of Lavozdigital.es, up 117%; followed by Hoy.es, with a 99% rise in its audience; Elcomerciodigital.com, up 79%; and Diariomontanes.es, up 77%.


Vocento is the only media company whose specialist classified advertising portals in Automotive, Employment and Real Estate are in the leading positions in each category.

Infoempleo.com, with over 1 million unique users, is maintaining its commitment to training, related to the job searches by users, and its support to freelancers and SMEs, in a very competitive fight for online leadership of the sector.

Pisos.com, Vocento's classified advertising site for real estate, has tripled its audience in the last year, with a growth rate that has been double the sector average, and now has 700,000 unique users, while its competitors are experiencing declines.

For its part, Hoymotor, which includes all the automotive portals of the Company, recorded a growth rate of 92% over the course of the last year, compared to the sector average of 34%, with over 600,000 unique users in June, according to the Nielsen NetView audience panel.

Leisure and Directories

The portal 11870.com, an innovative social network, which allows users to discover sites and services based on user recommendations, has grown by 168% in the last year, to 742,000 unique users in June, according to the same survey.

Thematic portals

Mujerhoy.com, the company's women's portal, has grown by 64% more than the sector average, thanks to the growth of its online female community, while finanzas.com has grown its audience by 43% in the last year, thanks to its commitment to editorial content and its personal finance and consumer section.

The measuring company, Nielsen Netview

The ranking provided by Nielsen Netview is the only measurement tool that measures the audiences of the total Internet market, including portals such as Google, Microsoft and Yahoo.
