La Rioja first came off the press on 15th January 1889. More than a century later it continues to be the benchmark newspaper in La Rioja, as is shown by its share of readership and circulation: 60% and 63%. In 1993 its ownership passed to the Grupo Correo.
This publication has three editions: Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja and General. It also produces the supplements Sports, Escuela, Juegos Deportivos Escolares and Expectativas.
