Hoy started publication on 1 January 1933 and became part of Grupo Correo in 1988. It is the most read newspaper in Extremadura, as shown by its readership and circulation market shares of 57% and 48%, according to OJD figures.
The newspaper has six editions that cover all the news from Extremadura. These editions are published in Cáceres (city) Cáceres (province), Badajoz (city), Badajoz (province), Mérida and Plasencia.
