The first edition of this newspaper was published on 1 May 1910. It is currently the most read newspaper in Álava and Vizcaya, with shares of circulation that ranges between 65 and 80 per cent respectively.
The content of El Correo is adapted to the needs of the Basque market and has nine editions, five of which are based in the province of Vizcaya. The editions of El Correo are: Left Bank, Right Bank, Duranguesado, Costa, Nervión, Ibaizábal, Álava, Miranda de Ebro, Guipúzcoa and La Rioja
