El Diario Vasco was born on 27th November 1934 and is the oldest newspaper in San Sebastian. It was acquired by Grupo Correo in 1948. The readership and circulation shares of El Diario Vasco are over 70% and 88% respectively, according to figures by the OJD.
The editorial office of El Diario Vasco is located in San Sebastian and it coordinates the offices and contributors all over the Basque Country which help in the preparation of the 10 editions of the newspaper. These editions are: Outside Guipúzcoa, San Sebastián, Bidasoa-Baztán, Donostialdea 1, Donostialdea 2, Toloso-Goierri, Alto Urola, Costa Urola, Bajo Deba and Alto Deba.
