The Grupo Correo began its activity 1910 with the foundation of
the El Correo newspaper. Since then, the group has consolidated
itself as a benchmark company on the national media scene, and
particularly in the regional press. The group currently has twelve
regional newspapers.
The Grupo Prensa Española was born in 1891, following the
publication of the magazine 'Blanco y Negro'. In 1903, its most
important newspaper was born —ABC— and in 1929 ABC
Sevilla appeared, making it the benchmark medium in the capital
of Andalusia.
In December 2001, a merger took place between these
two groups, leading to the Grupo Correo-Prensa Española.
In 2003 the group changed its name to Vocento.
